Mike Babbitt, store manager for Garden Home Market Place, said the large Garden Home store where he has worked for just two months shy of 25 years would close by Oct. 19. There used to be an “Oregon Electric” pizza place located within the store. I hope the large railway pictures that were once on the walls are still there.

The store continues its important role supporting and recognizing community activities. The Garden Home History Project has an annual Bell Ringing event to publicize Garden Home’s unique history. In 2015, Lamb’s Thriftway grocery business was sold to a local company, Signature Northwest LLC , whose CEO is Mark Miller. This company also purchased three other Lamb grocery businesses and two Bales Thriftway stores, one in Cedar Mill and one in Aloha.

Northwest Portland includes the Pearl District, Old Town Chinatown, the Northwest District, and various residential and industrial neighborhoods.

My wife was admitted in Lalitha Nursing Home, for delivery. As it took more than 6 hours during delivery, we politely asked how is my wife. But the chief doctor Chitra went inside delivery room and scolded my wife who was half way delivering the baby and already crying in pain. She scolded saying why your husband and parents are asking status? They haven't closed the windows in the delivery room and there is a hotel in the next building. My wife has asked to close the window, but still they haven't.
